Success Story – Youth are Empowered
Lori, was originally placed into care with A Coming of Age FFA when she was 8 years of age. At the time of placement she was acknowledged to be quiet, reserved, shy, and had developmental delays. She was a victim of sexual molestation and was acknowledged to need a loving foster family who would continue to care for her until adulthood as she was not going to be able to reunify with her parents.
Today, Lori is now 21 years of age and just emancipated out of the foster care system. She remained in placement with our agency until her 21st birthday, which just occurred three weeks ago. She continues to reside in the home of her foster parent even though she is no longer in foster care. This is due to the bond that Lori and her caretaker developed with one another. Lori has been recently accepted into the Job Corps where she will be gaining the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce and is looking forward to a rewarding career and future. One in which she will be in charge of her destiny and not viewed by others as a victim in foster care.Lori, was originally placed into care with A Coming of Age FFA when she was 8 years of age.
